No ads
Never. No advertising or ad IDs anywhere in Nyora.
Effective date · 14 June 2026
Nyora is a free, open-source manga reader. There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics — and you never need an account to read. Your library lives on your device. The only data that ever leaves it is what you deliberately turn on.
Never. No advertising or ad IDs anywhere in Nyora.
No usage tracking, no fingerprinting, no profiling.
No telemetry, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
Your library lives on your device by default.
Fully open — read the code and verify it yourself.
This policy applies to the Nyora apps for Android, iOS / iPadOS, macOS, Windows, Linux and the Nyora web app. It explains what stays on your device, what only happens when you opt in, and who else may receive data when you use a networked feature.
Nyora is an independent, open-source project maintained by Md Hasan Raza. It is a manga reader — it does not host any manga content of its own. For anything privacy-related, you can reach us at hasanraza96@outlook.com.
By default, everything Nyora knows about you stays local — on the device you're reading on. That includes your library, favourites, custom categories, reading history and progress, bookmarks, reader settings and app preferences.
None of this is transmitted anywhere unless you turn on cloud sync. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it from the device.
Cloud sync is off by default. If you choose to enable it, you sign in with Google Sign-In, which authenticates you. We receive a sign-in token and your basic Google account identifier (your email / account ID) for the single purpose of identifying your sync account.
We do not access your Gmail, contacts, files or any other Google data.
When sync is on, the data you've added — manga metadata, favourites, categories, reading history and progress, bookmarks and reader preferences — is stored in our backend on Supabase and tied to your account, so it follows you across your devices. It is used only to provide sync. It is never sold, and never used for advertising or profiling.
You can sign out at any time to stop syncing, and you can request deletion of your synced data whenever you like.
Nyora is a reader, not a content host. It fetches catalogues, pages and images directly from the third-party manga websites — the sources — that you choose. Those sites receive your requests, including your IP address, and operate under their own privacy policies. Nyora is not affiliated with them and has no control over how they handle your data.
Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device using the operating system's own capabilities — for example Windows OCR, Apple Vision or other on-device models. Page images are never uploaded for OCR.
The recognized text is then sent to a third-party machine-translation service — Google Translate — to produce the translation. Only the extracted text is sent: not the image, and not your account information. If you optionally configure your own AI provider key (bring-your-own-key), the text is sent to that provider instead, under their terms.
Trackers are optional. If you connect AniList, MyAnimeList, Shikimori or Kitsu, Nyora shares your reading progress for the relevant titles with that service — with your authorization, and subject to that service's own privacy policy.
Depending on which features you enable, data may reach:
Each of these is independently responsible for what it processes.
Local data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Synced data is retained for as long as your sync account exists. Deletions propagate via a soft-delete marker, so your other devices learn that an item has been removed.
To delete your synced account and data, sign out and / or email hasanraza96@outlook.com.
Nyora uses HTTPS wherever the source or service supports it. Authentication and synced storage are handled through Supabase's managed authentication and database security. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we limit collection to the minimum that each feature requires.
Nyora is a general-purpose reader and is not directed at children. Because it can access third-party sources that may contain mature content, it is intended for users who are old enough under their local law and the relevant store's age rating.
Enabling networked features may process data on servers located in other countries — for example, wherever Supabase or Google operate. By using those features, you consent to such transfers.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and reposting the policy at its public URL.
